The township of Bellbrae was once known as Jan Juc which can be confusing that we now have a Jan Juc township between Torquay and Bellbrae. Consequently the Bellbrae Primary School started out as the Jan Juc School. Settling the town The area was settled during the 1840's and land sales commenced in 1857.

Jan Juc ( / dʒæn dʒʌk /) is a suburb of Torquay, Victoria. At the 2016 census, Jan Juc had a population of 3,683. [1] History Nearby Bellbrae was originally called Jan Juc but was renamed in 1923, so the Jan Juc Post Office, which opened on 25 January 1862, was in fact in Bellbrae. [2] There has never been a post office in the current Jan Juc.
