It was a real survivor, as Angelo says: "It was mint - very little rust, and all the hard stuff like glass and moulds were all pretty good.".

In the United States, where only the V8 was considered to be capable of any performance, the Valiant quickly gained a small V8 engine designed with the small car in mind — the 273 V8. This engine was based on the existing A-series V8 engines, but was considerably lighter, hence the designation LA — Lightweight A.

The Valiant V.I.P. was offered in both 4 door sedan and Safari station wagon body styles and was fitted with a 273 cu in (4.5 L) V8 engine. The Valiant V8 was a quick car in its day, recording a 0-60 mph time of just 10.5 seconds and the standing quarter mile in 17.5 seconds (as tested by Wheels magazine in May 1967). The VC proved a milestone car in Chrysler Australia's history, the 65,634 strong production run a significant increase over the previous AP6 but surviving examples.

The VC Valiant was introduced in March 1966 and although it was basically the same car as it`s predecessor the AP6 underneath, the new body with sharp, squared-off styling was clearly influenced by Chrysler in America..
