Seit 1996 besteht sie aus zwei Spezialglühlampen von je 75V/1.000 W, deren Licht durch Spiegel und Fresnellinsen noch in einer Entfernung von 22 Seemeilen sichtbar ist.

Das sogenannte Leuchtfeuer Kap Arkona, gleich daneben, stammt aus dem Jahre 1901/1902 und löste den alten Turm ab. Der Peilturm wurde 1927.
