The Grand Som is a mountain of the Chartreuse Mountains in the French Prealps, in Isère, France.It has a long ridge, unevenly sharp, overlooking the Petit Som (1,772m), the Col de la Ruchère northwest and the Grande Chartreuse monastery below the cliffs. The summit has a cross and two relief tables. It lies in the Parc Naturel Régional de la Chartreuse.

This hike from Saint-Pierre-de-Chartreuse in Isère takes you to Grand Som. The trail, mainly in the forest, takes the direction of the Col du Frenay via the Roche Cla. You will have a beautiful view of the Couzon valley. From the Col the path follows the cliff to reach the top. you will have a magnificent panorama of the peaks of the Chartreuse massif and of the Convent of the Grande.
