Catholic Church Built between 1884 and 1887, the St. Nicolaaskerk is the most well-known of the 'new' Amsterdam churches. It is a tall and spacious building, standing at a spectacular position diagonally opposite the Central Railway Station in the Old Centre district of Amsterdam.

In plain view from Centraal Station, the magnificent cupola and neo-Renaissance towers belong to the city's main Catholic church, the first to be built (between 1884 and 1887) after Catholic worship became legal again in the 19th century. Gebouw. De Basiliek van de H. Nicolaas, genoemd naar de patroonheilige van Amsterdam, ligt als een prachtig boegbeeld van de stad tegenover het Centraal Station. Door zijn koepel, omvang en locatie is het een kerk die door velen gezien en gekend wordt. In 2001 werd een grootschalige restauratie van de kerk voltooid.
