All you need to know is that "da red wunz go faster" - I honestly don't think there is any greater depth to it than that! Almost certainly based on when the game was being made and a certain real-life sports car being a certain colour, and the Ork faction being a fun choice for people who took the game less seriously (in an era which was a lot less serious).
