Hello, gang. It's Ashwin, back from a bit of a hiatus to discuss the camera du jour, Sony's impressive A7s. The A7s has gotten quite a bit of press, in particular for it's remarkable ISO sensitivity/performance, for it's 4K video, and for it's buck-the-convention 12-megapixel sensor.

New E-mount options seem to be coming out all the time, like the Voigtländer 10mm f/5.6 Hyper-Wide Heliar and 15mm f/4.5 Super-Wide Heliar, as well as the Zeiss Batis 18mm f/2.8 and 25mm f/2. These are great options, and much more reasonably priced compared to offerings from Leica.

The reason for concern is that the Leica M camera firmware coupled with sensor design is configured to work with and correct the known aberrations in its own lenses, whereas the Sony A7r is not. This is not such a big concern in medium to long focal lengths, but can become serious with wide angles.

How To Set Up Your Sony A7 and A7r To Shoot HDR. Open the rear menu by pushing the Display Button on the wheel or the Fn Button . Select the cont. shooting/timer menu option in the top right. Your icon might look different depending on how you've set it. Scroll down and Select Continuous Bracketing.

The three lenses are: Leica 28mm f1.4 Summilux asph, the Leica 50mm f1.4 Summilux asph and the Leica 75mm f2.0 Summicron APO lens. One day I'll buy a Leica camera again, I'm sure, but I'm reluctant to sell these pieces of glass - so can I get them to work with my Sony, in the meantime? So that key reason - to reject the fast AF, etc?

On a 57mm lens, the Sony a7 / a7R's preference for 1/60 sec in aperture priority mode would have almost certainly been a recipe for camera shake.. As far as fast focus for manual lenses, do like Leica M2-3, Set in M at F8-11, Zone focus using depth of field marks on lens, and 1/250 with Auto Iso . Works great for people with wide angle 28-35mm.
