The Start Complex is a group of low grade metamorphosed rocks that form Start Point, Prawle Point (the most southerly point in Devon) and Bolt Tail on the western side of the Salcombe Estuary. The metamorphosed zone extends northwards inland from Prawle Point for about 4km, comprising 2 quite distinct rock types: mica (grey) schist and hornblende-chlorite (green) schist.
