Fold the piece over, and pin two opposing ends of the triangle together at that 2 1/2" mark. You are going to stitch from the fold on the left to the pin. Do this on all three sides of the triangle. In the photo below, I have done two of the three sides, and the third is pinned, ready to be stitched.
