12 Location Middle GA Largemouth Super User Share Posted January 31, 2011 If you want to break rods tips, install the tubes. I've had three boats with the tubes and have taken them out of all three. The only way the tubes work is if you use rod sleeves to keep the tips from hooking together.

I was using rod socks for a while but was not happy with that solution. I just ordered a couple of rod box organizers from a company called Rod Stow'r. They have a 11 rod system for $49.95, and a 17 rod system for $59.95. These are about the best prices that I have been able to find for these types of rod box organizers.

You need to size it to what kind of rods you are making the sleeve for; the 1 1/2" worked great for my ML St. Croix Spinning Rod, the 1", or even the 3/4" will be OK for casting rods.
